CHURCH OF SAINT CESELLO
Where is it : Via San Giovanni, 181 |
Accessible | Open |
Legend has it that saint Lussorio was murdered in this place in the fourth century.
Apparently two children were also murdered at the same time: Camerino and Cesello.
The church was built in the early 1700s and is dedicated to one of those children.
Inside there is one room only, and its ceiling has the shape of a barrel.
The altar is made of golden wood and it has two paintings on it.
There is a painting showing the martyrdom of Saint Lussorio.
Inside the church is a beautiful marble water font decorated with seven fish.
Today the church belongs to the cloistered nuns of the Sacramentine order, who live in a cloister nearby.
